It is no secret that Colts general manager Chris Ballard’s seat is getting warmer. No front office executive or coach, or anybody in the NFL for that matter, might be on a hotter seat than him.

Colts fans are frustrated with the current state of the team, and right or wrong, they lay the devastation of the past several seasons directly on the shoulders of Ballard.

In many Colts fans’ minds, they want to see the head honcho just do something to fix it. With yesterday’s news that Myles Garrett is requesting to be traded, the Colts are primed to do just that.

Garrett packing his bags for Indianapolis makes sense: for one, the Colts have enough cap space to get a deal done. Second, for all their problems on offense, the Indianapolis defense didn’t fare much better last season, finishing 29th in yards allowed and failing at critical moments in games.

The Colts need a better defensive front to lock down opposing offenses and they need an elite, veteran pass rusher to make timely sacks. Third, Garrett is still on the right side of 30 and still a high-impact player. The fit would be perfect.
