Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias has been charged with five misdemeanors related to an alleged domestic violence incident at a soccer game last year.

TMZ Sports reported he was charged with one count of spousal battery, two counts of domestic battery involving dating relationship, one count of false imprisonment and one count of assault. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office previously declined to press felony charges.

The case was then sent to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for misdemeanor consideration.

Urias is accused of slamming his wife, Daisy, against a fence, pulling her hair and taking a swing at her during an argument that took place at an LAFC vs. Inter Miami soccer game last September. He was arrested at the scene and booked on a felony domestic violence charge.

Major League Baseball placed Urias on administrative leave days later. He has not appeared in a game since and went unsigned this winter in free agency.

The 27-year-old previously served a 20-game suspension in 2019 for a previous domestic violence arrest. No formal charges were filed in that case after Urias agreed to complete a domestic violence course and not commit any further acts of violence.

If Urias is signed by an MLB team, he would likely become the first repeat offender under the league’s domestic violence policy. Urias posted a 60-25 record with a 3.11 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over an eight-season MLB career. He was the NL wins leader in 2021 and led the league in ERA a season later.
