Tomb Raider Reloaded, the new roguelike based on the classic adventure game series, launches at last
After being announced only a short while ago, the most recent mobile adaptation of the classic Tomb Raider series, Tomb Raider Reloaded, is now available for iOS and Android. Tomb Raider Reloaded is a top-down roguelike shooter that sees you tackling various stages as you progressively upgrade Laura Croft, giving her better armour, and weapons, and even upgrading her passive stats as each stage gets harder and harder.
If you frequent roguelikes on mobile, you’ll be reminded of a certain one the second you start playing Tomb Raider Reloaded. A certain game called Archero seems to be a heavy inspiration, as you can see a lot of similarities between the two, from the one-finger touch control scheme to the general progression as well as the gearing up and even the top-down style of gameplay.
This is not a bad thing, as Archero is beloved amongst mobile roguelike fans, and Tomb Raider Reloaded seeks to emulate that experience to some degree rather than fully copy it. Add in the fact that it uses a well-known and loved property like Tomb Raider, allowing you to play as everyone’s favourite gunslinging heroine Laura Croft, and this one seems like a surefire success.
Alongside the main campaign that will act as your primary form of progression, there’s also a rotating event page that offers up a lot of different ways to grab upgrade resources and new gear, so there’s always a way for you to continue upping those numbers and keep the main story going.
It’s an addictive loop, and Archero did quite well with it, so I’d be willing to bet that Tomb Raider Reloaded might even do this formula better. Don’t take my word for it though, give it a go at either of the links below for free!
