The Tennessee Titans are reportedly preparing both to select first in the 2025 NFL Draft and to move on from quarterback Will Levis.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Titans know “that they can’t go forward with Will Levis as their franchise quarterback.”

Breer added:

That doesn’t mean he can’t stay on the roster, or compete for playing time. It does mean the search for a long-term answer at the position is on, and it begins with the team having the first pick.

Breer wrote that he expects the Titans to “either go quarterback or trade down” from the No. 1 pick.

The New England Patriots were on track to pick first this April until they defeated the Buffalo Bills in Week 18.

The Titans then lost to the Houston Texans to ensure their place at the bottom of the NFL standings and their rights to the first pick for the first time since 1978.

The decision as to what to do with that pick in Tennessee could hinge on the opinion the Titans develop of the incoming quarterback class this spring.

Unlike the 2024 draft, when three quarterbacks were selected within the top three picks and six signal callers were off the board by No. 12, there are far fewer consensus first-rounders among the 2025 class.

The Titans could consider taking Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders with the first pick. Other quarterbacks like Georgia’s Carson Beck and Alabama’s Jalen Milroe are currently projected to go later in the draft, so Tennessee could conceivably trade down and still add one if the franchise believes they will still be available.

Levis has maintained that he can remain a franchise quarterback since his midseason benching by the Titans. Regardless of the Titans’ draft decision, looks like he will have to prove that by winning his job back if he remains in Tennessee next season.
