Zoe Saldaña Oscars 2025: The Actor’s Diamond Panther Collar Almost Stole the Show

Zoe Saldaña celebrated her first Oscars win at the 2025 ceremony, and obviously could not be upstaged by anyone or anything. But if she could…it would have been by her (and there’s really no other word for this) fierce diamond panther choker necklace.

The stunning Cartier collar, with white diamonds and large emerald detail, is a new piece from the brand’s Nature Sauvage High Jewelry collection, which features designs inspired by the animal kingdom. Saldaña’s necklace has a panther head at the clasp with a rectangular emerald jewel at its mouth, with contrasting black jewels for the animal’s stripes. Saldaña paired the statement piece with simple diamond stud earrings.

Nearly as eye-catching as her bling was Saldaña’s strapless Saint Laurent gown, which had a triple-tiered bubble hem skirt in mulberry silk, and a sheer-illusion bodice with a rhinestone net overlay. She styled the gown with sheer, black silk opera gloves and platform sandals.

Saldaña wore a similar animal-inspired Cartier necklace to the César awards on February 28. That piece was a gold choker in the shape of a tiger’s head, with a playful paw peeking out from under his little, jewel-encrusted chin.

Zoe Saldaña, at the Oscars 2025, won the Best Supporting Actress award for (the controversy-laden) Emilia Perez, in which she played Rita, an overworked lawyer who helps a former cartel boss, Emilia, with her transition. Years later, Rita and Emilia meet again in London, and Rita and Emilia become friends and partners.

In her acceptance speech, Saldaña thanked her mother, who was in the audience, first of all. She continued, “I am the first American of Dominican origin to accept an Academy Award, and I know I will not be the last! I hope the fact that I’m getting an award for a role where I got to sing and speak in Spanish—my grandmother, if she were here, she would be so delighted.”
