Sinead O’Connor Estate & Chrysalis Records Request Trump Not Play Her Music at Campaign Rallies

The estate of Sinead O’Connor releases a statement requesting Donald Trump cease playing her music at campaign rallies, as the late singer considered him a ‘biblical devil.’
The estate of Sinead O’Connor released a statement on Monday (March 4) requesting that Donald Trump stop playing her music at his campaign rallies, citing conflicting political views and beliefs. Trump has played O’Connor’s biggest hit, “Nothing Compares 2 U,” at his recent events while he campaigns for the Republican presidential nomination.
In a joint statement with Chrysalis Records, O’Connor’s estate demanded that Trump “desist from using her music immediately.” The statement explains that the Irish singer, who died last year at age 56, “lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency towards her fellow human beings.”
“It was with outrage, therefore, that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ at his political rallies,” the statement reads.
“It is no exaggeration to say that Sinead would have been disgusted, hurt, and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a ‘biblical devil.’ As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately.”
Sinead O’Connor was an outspoken activist for human rights, and a staunch critic of the Roman Catholic Church years before allegations of sexual abuse were widely reported. She passed away in her London home in July last year, with the coroner’s report ruling she had died of natural causes.
O’Connor becomes the latest artist on a growing list of those who have objected to Trump using their songs at his rallies, including the late Tom Petty, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Rihanna, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, Neil Young, and Phil Collins.
